What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is a form of energy healing that was developed by the Buddhist priest Dr Mikao Usui (1865-1926). When broken down the word Reiki comes from the Japanese word "rei" which means universal and "ki" which means life energy.
What happens during a Reiki appointment?
A typical appointment lasts approximately 60 minutes which includes time to chat about how you are and any concerns you wish to discuss at the beginning and end of each session. On your first appointment a full history will be taken and the areas identified that you wish to improve on. This could be something as simple as taking time for yourself to relax or working on a specific problem like insomnia.
A Reiki session takes place with you laying down on a treatment couch. You will remain fully clothed throughout your treatment and be covered with a soft blanket to ensure you remain warm and comfortable. Soothing music will be played to help you unwind in a safe and relaxing environment.
Reiki is directed through the practitioner’s hands, placed on different areas of your body, unblocking negative energy and restoring harmony and balance.
